Lexion
Simply select a test for their
age and area of difficulty and
Lexion will analyse the result,
displaying the results in charts
and text. It then automatically
creates exercises to address the
difficulty.
The student can practice the exercises,
and as they improve, they can be
re-tested to assess progress.
Lexion is a computer based system for
stimulating and training people with
language related learning disorders,
dyslexia or aphasia. It covers the most
fundamental processes in learning reading
and writing, including phonological
awareness, letter-sound correspondence,
syllable and morpheme segmentation
and blending, grammar, spatial skills,
arithmetic and understanding the clock.
The Lexion analysis helps to assess
whether a student will have difficulties
in reading and writing during their first
years in school. It can also be used as
a screening tool when a new stage in
reading and writing education is to
begin, or where a certain level of ability
should have been reached.
Lexion has also been designed to engage
interest and improve concentration.
Lexion makes it easy to
assess those who are
struggling with reading
and writing.
ReadOn
This comprehensive learning tool is
designed to help people of all ages
to overcome the reading problems
associated with dyslexia.
Regardless of reading level, it allows
the student to experience reading
with minimal supervision and support.
Mistakes can be made and risks taken,
hopefully resulting in an increased
willingness to read, improved reading
ability and higher self esteem.
Features include visual tracking exercises,
comprehension support, auditory
feedback and customised visual cues
for problem words. Settings can be
personalised to meet individual needs.
Used as the basis of a home or school
reading program, ReadOn can help
develop student learning strategies and
reading skills.
Appropriate reading material can be
entered or copied into ReadOn (hard
copy text can be loaded using Optical
Character Recognition). The student
can then use ReadOn’s visual tracking
options to read it. ReadOn uses letter,
word, phrase or paragraph highlighting
to help prevent the student from being
distracted by all the other text on the
page.
Students can use ReadOn to read texts
independently. They can use its auditory
word assistance for help with tricky
words.
The words for which the student sought
assistance are automatically recorded in
an individual word bank. This information
can be printed or extracted and used as
a basis for further work, which might
include multi-sensory activities, visual
imagery, clay models or word lists.
They could, for example, create a painting
or a clay model that represents the word.
This visual clue can then be added to
ReadOn and be used to assist with their
decoding in future.
ReadOn’s writing options include a talking
spell checker and auditory feedback of
letter names and words during typing.
Students can also use the voices to listen
back to their work – an invaluable editing
tool.
