I can't get PostConform to control the deck via machine control.
Make sure your deck is in remote mode and that it is receiving its correct machine control standard signal from
PostConform. Reseat both ends of the serial 9-pin cable leading from the computer to the deck in use.
Note: For machine control of external decks, PostConform requires either a Mac serial port, a qualified modem-to-
serial port adapter or USB-to-serial adapter. For modem-to-serial conversion on Blue & White G3 and G4 Macintosh
computers, Digidesign currently supports the Griffin gPort, gPort II and the GeeThree Stealth Port and Stealth Port
for G4 - AGP video. For USB-to-serial conversion Digidesign qualifies the Keyspan USB Serial Adapter with driver
v1.7.2 or higher available at:

What are the synchronization equipment requirements for PostConform v2.0?
PostConform v2.0 requires either a Digidesign Universal Slave Driver or an LTC-to-MTC converter for
synchronization.
USD: Universal Slave Driver connects directly to Pro Tools|24 MIX and MIXplus systems, but requires a qualified
modem-to-serial converter for use with Pro Tools III systems in Blue & White G3 / G4 configurations. NOTE:
PostConform v2.0 is currently not supported with Pro Tools III systems. A fix for this is currently under
development.
LTC-to-MTC Converters: Digidesign recommends using a serial MIDI Interface. Serial MIDI interfaces require either
a Mac serial port or a qualified modem-to-serial port adapter. Alternatively USB MIDI Interfaces have been tested
and are similarly compatible.

How do I recreate sources without starting a new session and importing the EDL all over again?
Select the events you want to redo. This selects the source for each event (or one source for many events). In the
Source Audio menu choose Clear Selected. This deletes all the selected sources but leaves the EDL events in place.
Now select the events you want to create sources for and choose Create Sources in EDL menu. If you want to
create sources again for the entire EDL, choose Select All Events in the EDL menu and choose Clear Selected in the
Source Audio menu. Now select all the events in the EDL and choose Create Sources in the EDL menu.

How does the sorting method I choose affect the order in which PostConform loads sources from the
source tape?
Sort by Record In (A Mode) will load the audio in chronological order of the show regardless of reel number or time
code. This means that PostConform will not pay any attention to whether other sources from the same tape can be
loaded at that time. This is the least efficient manner by which to conform your audio.
Sort by Name/Record In (B mode) will force PostConform to pay attention to all sources that can be loaded from the
same tape. It then loads all source audio from that tape in chronological order of the show but not in the order of
sources on the tape. This means that PostConform will at least load all sources that reside on one tape but it will
force your tape deck to shuttle back and forth as it attempts to find the right section.
Sort by Name/Source In (C Mode) is the most efficient method of conforming using PostConform. This method
forces PostConform to pay attention to both the reel number as well as source audio time code. In this mode
PostConform pays no attention to the chronology of the show itself and is instead only concerned with loading
source audio in the fastest manner from the start of the tape towards the end.
