Will Mbox work on my USB hub? My PCMCIA adapter? My PCI card?
Mbox is designed to work on a single, dedicated USB port build into your computer. We do not support its use on
any hubs, adapters, expansion cards, or the USB port on the side of your USB keyboard.

Can I use Mbox in a truly mobile way, like out in the desert where there is no place to plug in my
laptop’s power supply?
Yes, but you should bring extra batteries for your laptop. Mbox draws a significant amount of current over the USB
bus, and will drain your laptop’s battery relatively quickly.

Can I play my Mac sounds through Mbox?
In OS 9 you would have to install the Digidesign Control Panel that is an installation option on the Pro Tools LE
Installer CD. The Digidesign control panel allows you to choose Digidesign as the output device in the Sound control
panel and this will then play the Mac sounds out of the Mbox.
In OS X you can use the Core Audio Drivers to play other applications such as iTunes or Quicktime to play thru the
Digidesign Hardware but it does not support playing back the Mac System Sounds. You can download the Core
Audio Drivers from our web site for Pro Tools LE 6.0.1 and higher.

Pro Tools will stop recording and show an alert letting you that this has happened. If you reconnect the USB cable
you can resume recording (once you clear the error message by clicking OK.)

Why can’t I use the analog and digital inputs independent of one another? I could do this with my
Audiomedia III card. Why can’t I turn off S/PDIF mirroring?
The USB spec only allows for a certain amount of Data to pass in either direction at any given time, and there is
simply not enough bandwidth to handle the load presented by 4 discrete audio streams. Audiomedia III uses the
PCI bus for throughput, which is not limited in this way.

Where did the Tascam DA30 S/PDIF option go? For that matter, what happened to "Other Options"in
the Hardware Setup window?
The Tascam toggle has been removed from the software since the S/PDIF output from Mbox will be recognized by
your DA30 as it is.
In prior versions of Pro Tools you were required to enable the "Tascam DA-30" toggle when using one of these DAT
