Instructions
---------------------
- Connect the MTP AV's ADAT sync OUT port to the primary ADAT's 9-pin sync IN port.
- Connect an optical cable out the ADAT into the 001 card (back of the computer). Note: optical out has a red light
emanating from it.
- Ensure the essential serial/USB connection from the MTP AV is going to the Computer.
On the MTP AV
---------------------
MTP AV clock must be set to internal.
- Word clock out must be set to 1x.
- The MTP AV's MMC ID must match Pro Tools.
- FreeMIDI/OMS Studio Setup
- Install OMS first.
- Install FreeMIDI, Clockworks, & the MTP Express Console (www.motu.com). Launch FreeMIDI and tell it to "use
OMS" (or go to the preferences and select "OMS").
- Launch OMS and make sure it recognizes the MTP AV as an interface.
- Branching off the MTP AV create a device and set the correct manufacturer and model.
- Choose port 9 for the connection from the MTP AV to the ADAT.
- Go in the edit menu to preferences and ensure that "serial dma" is UNchecked.
- Save, make current, and quit OMS.
Pro Tools
---------------------
Setups menu to peripherals:
- Synchronization: Device is Generic MTC reader, Port is MTPAV,mdm
- Machine Control: Enable and send to the MTP AV, mdm ID# 127
- Windows menu: Show Session Setup. Set the sample and frame rates to match the ADAT's. Current time and
session start time should match hours. Set the sync to optical. Note: If you do not see "current time" then the
timing information is not being sent from the MTP AV (check MIDI connections, FreeMIDI/OMS setup, Pro Tools
setting or the MTP AV). When changing session start times you must press the enter key to complete the change in
hour. If it prompts you to adjust the regions choose "Maintain Relative" position.
- MIDI menu: Input devices. Ensure that the ADAT and/or the MTP AV is checked.
- Transport window: Put online (Operations menu: Online). The clock will flash blue.
- Setups menu: Preferences. Choose either record at ADAT lock or Insertion/selection.
- Drop the cursor (with the waveform tool) at a location in Pro Tools and press play on the transport window. Pro
Tools should go into play mode and begin playback of the ADAT.
- Set (in the transport window) transport=MMC. The transport will now drive the ADAT.
