Sometimes a "dot" (or period) appears in the timecode display of USD or SYNC I/O, why does this
happen?
A "dot" between the minutes and frames display (00 00. 00 00) indicates that the positional reference is in auto
LTC/VITC mode.
A "dot" between the frames and subframes display (00 00 00. 00) indicates odd/even field distinction. A lit decimal
point to the right of frames indicates an even-numbered field; no decimal point indicates odd numbered.

The Sync I/O Word Clock output signal is low. As soon as you connect the sync I/O Word Clock Output
to the External Clock Input of the 192 I/O, the signal drops from 5v to 2.3v .
This is exactly how the output is designed to work. The Word Clock output has a 75 ohm source impedance and the
192 Word Clock input has a 75 ohm termination. The result is that the signal level is dropped in half. This is
standard procedure for a high frequency signal such as video or AES/EBU. If a person needs to drive multiple
destinations with such a signal then they need a distribution amp.
SYNC I/O was meant to use its Loop Sync output to clock the I/O boxes which would leave the Word Clock output
available to drive another load. The current release of Pro Tools doesn't support this function. There is also a Word
Clock output on each I/O box for driving additional loads.

Does the SYNC I/O support Loop Clock?
When first shipped with Pro Tools 5.3, Sync I/O does not support Loop Clock. To use SYNC I/O as the clock master
with a 92 I/O or 192 I/O interface, connect the external clock 1x/256x out of the SYNC I/O to the corresponding in
of the first audio interface. Sync mode for that interface (and all others in the chain) should then read "EXT" when
Pro Tools is launched.
SYNC I/O will support Loop Clock in a subsequent release of Pro Tools and SYNC I/O firmware.

How do I switch the SYNC I/O between NTSC and PAL?
Make sure that SYNC I/O is not in remote mode (the green remote light should be off). To take SYNC I/O out of
remote mode hold down clock reference, positional reference, and frame rate. Hit the Set button on the unit's front
panel, then use the up button to toggle through the menu until you see "Video Sy." Hit Set again and use Up or
Down to select between NTSC or PAL. Hit Set to exit.

SYNC Setup application doesn't have a choice for Digiserial port. How can I update the SYNC I/O's
firmware or change other settings without this application?
The SYNC Setup application will only communicate with the SYNC I/O when connected to a modem or printer port
