What Software and Hardware can affect my Pro Tools Free PC system performance?
Pro Tools Free can also be affected by other software and hardware drivers installed on your computer. For best
possible performance, it is recommended that you:
1) Avoid running other Windows programs at the same time as Pro Tools Free.
2) Turn off any software utilities that run in the background, such as calendars and virus protection.
3) Disable Windows System sounds. In the Sound Control Panel set the Sound Scheme to No Sounds.
4) If your video display card supports it, enable Bus Mastering in the manufacturer's Control Panel.
5) Disable any networking cards.
6) Turn off any power management features of your system.

How do I optimize my PC for use with a Windows Digi 001, Tool Box, or Pro Tools Free system?
Start with the fastest Pentium III or AMD Thunderbird Processor you can afford (single processor) and at least 192
MB of RAM.
IMPORTANT: See Dig i001 for Windows compatibility section of the Digidesign Website for complete compatibility
requirements: http://www.digidesign.com/compato/
We have seen better performance on computers that have less components attached and non-custom versions of
the BIOS or Windows. For maximum performance, a dedicated qualified ATA/IDE or SCSI disk drive with FAT32 file
system is required.
All Pro Tools LE sessions should be stored on a dedicated drive and all Digidesign system files should be stored on
the system boot drive. Although it is possible to record sessions to your PC's boot drive, this is not recommended
and full 24-track performance is not guaranteed.
After Installing your Digi 001 hardware and software in your PC, please make the following adjustments to your
Windows settings to ensure optimal performance:
Disable Auto-Insert Notification for CD-Rom and removable media drives:
* From the desktop, right-click My Computer and choose Properties.
* In the System Control Panel, click the Device Manager tab.
* Locate and double-click the device for your CD-ROM. In the CD Rom Properties dialog, click the Settings tab.
* Deselect the option for Auto Insert Notification and click OK.
* Repeat for any removable media devices, such as JAZ and ZIP drives.
* Close the System Control Panel.
Enable DMA for any IDE Drives:
* From the desktop, right-click on My Computer and choose Properties.
