When I launch Pro Tools Free I get the error "A DigiSystem INIT is required".
Make sure that you have a Digisystem Init installed and enabled in the Apple Menu > Control Panel > Extensions
Manager .
You may have the wrong version of the Digisystem Init installed or enabled in Extensions Manager. If you need to
re-install them, they are on the Pro Tools CD, scroll down in the CD window and open the System Folder Items
folder and drag the Digisystem Init on to your hard drive into the Extensions Folder.

How do I create an audible click track in Pro Tools Free for Mac?
In order to produce a click, Pro Tools Free can use a sound module with proper configuration of the OMS Setup
application. You have the ability to route the click from Pro Tools Free to trigger any device provided it has been
defined in OMS. If you do not have any external sound modules, you still have the option to use the QuickTime
Musical Instruments software synthesizer. This is a General MIDI, multitimbral sound module which is included with
the Macintosh Operating System. In order to take advantage of this "virtual synthesizer," you need to enable its
operation through OMS.
- Launch the OMS setup application.
- In the studio setup window, double click the QuickTime Musical Instrument icon and click the radio button next to
the word "on". Click "Use Rock Drum Kit" checkbox .
- Click the "OK" button, choose "save" from the file menu and quit OMS Setup.
- In Pro Tools Free, select Click Options from the MIDI pull-down menu or double click on either the count-off or
metronome button in the transport MIDI controls window.
- Click and hold on the "Output" pop-up menu and select your destination device and channel. If using a General
MIDI compatible synthesizer (such as QuickTime Musical Instruments) use channel 10, for this is the channel that
contains all drum and non-pitched percussion sounds.
- Select a note for the accented and unaccented beats via your MIDI controller or by typing in a note name with the
Macintosh keyboard.
- Once you have configured the parameters of the Click options window to your liking, enable the click by choosing
"click" in the MIDI pull-down menu or highlighting the metronome button in the MIDI controls transport window.

I can't find a way to set the sample rate in Pro Tools FREE on my Macintosh to 48kHz. Why not?
Sound Manager on the Macintosh no longer supports a sample rate of 48kHz. If you use the built-in sound of your
Macintosh, the sample rate you can use is 44.1kHz.
