"this demo copy of ... has expired." How do I make it so I don't see this error anymore?
If you have purchased the key to the plug-in, insert the key disk when Pro Tools prompts you. Otherwise, remove
either the specific plug-in files (System Folder>DAE Folder>Plug-ins folder) that Pro Tools says are expired or that
have the word "demo" in the filename. Trash the DAE prefs (entire folder) from the System Folder>Preferences
folder, empty the Trash and relaunch Pr Tools. For DINR, you need to remove 3 files: Broadband Noise Reduction,
Broadband Noise Reduction A/S and Hum Removal.

How do I record a MIDI track as an audio track?
-Create an audio track (File Menu > New Track). If stereo, make two audio tracks and pan each hard left and right.
-Connect the outputs of your MIDI device (keyboard, drum machine, etc.) into the available audio inputs of your
computer.
-Set the input of the audio track to the input(s) you have connected into from your MIDI device to your computer's
audio inputs.
-If you are not actually recording yet and you want to monitor the signal through an audio track, make sure that
Pro Tools Free is set to Input Monitor only under the Operations menu. Record enable the audio tracks you wish to
hear signal on. If you plan on monitoring the audio signal from your MIDI device without recording it you can route
it to an Au track. This will allow you to hear the signal without xillaryrecord enabling tracks.

Why is there a small amount of delay while monitoring audio when I am recording?
Because Pro Tools Free uses the host processor in your computer for audio processing, playback, and recording
there is a small amount of audio delay, or latency, when monitoring audio through the system. This causes a delay
between the source audio and the audio going through the computer as it is input, processed, and output.
To avoid hearing the delay in audio when you are recording you can monitor the audio that you are recording
through a mixer (such as a Mackie 1202) before it enters Pro Tools Free. Here's how:
-Route the audio that you are recording into your mixer. Next, route that signal back out of the mixer (preferably
via an Auxiliary Send or Direct Out to avoid a feedback loop) into the audio inputs on your computer.
-Route the main mix of Pro Tools Free from your computer audio outputs to your mixer.
-Create the audio tracks in Pro Tools Free that you are going to record on.
-Record enable the tracks you are going to record on. You should see levels on these tracks and hear the latency
(delay) that you are trying to avoid.
-Mute the tracks that you are going to record on. This will allow you to monitor the recorded audio through your
mixer but not through your computer and avoid any monitoring latency.

When I overdub audio with prerecorded MIDI the two are slightly out of sync in Pro Tools FREE
You need to set the Negative MIDI Playback Offset in the Preferences menu. Choose Setups>Preferences>MIDI.
This capability is provided to compensate for the audio monitoring latency. If you are monitoring the output from
your MIDI devices through a mixer, there is no latency. If however, you are monitoring the devices through your
computer's outputs the MIDI tracks will play slightly later than the audio tracks. The larger the setting for the
Hardware Buffer size, the larger the latency (This can be adjusted on win98 systems in setups > hardware under
hardware buffer size. It cannot be adjusted on MAC PTFree systems).
By configuring a MIDI offset, you can get your MIDI tracks to play back slightly earlier by a specified number of
samples, thereby compensating for the latency in monitoring audio through Pro Tools Free.
