DNS:
The Digi Wi-Point 3G supports dynamic DNS (DDNS). The default status for DDNS is
disabled. The Digi Wi-Point 3G only supports DNS provided by www.dyndns.org. To use
this feature, obtain a domain name from the provider. The router will register the new
public IP address every time the wireless WAN IP changes.
VPN:
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) are used to securely connect two private networks from
one to the other using secure channels. VPN uses IP Security (IPSec) technology to
protect the transferring of data over the Internet Protocol (IP).
The Digi device is responsible for handling the routing between networks. Devices within
the private network served by the Digi device can connect directly through the VPN tunnel
to devices on the other private network. The VPN tunnels are configured using various
security settings and methods to ensure the networks are secured.
For more information on setting up VPN, please refer to Digi Application notes.
