Printing Labels (DC-300 only) 97
Print the Free Format File
You can print as a report the parameters of a Free Format you have programmed. There is no report showing all
of the Free Formats; only one Free Format can be printed at a time. Before following this procedure, make sure
that the DC-300’s printer is loaded with receipt paper rather than label stock (see Section 7.1.4) and that SPEC
43 - SELECT RECEIPT OR LABEL PAPER PRINTING is set to “0: RECEIPT PAPER” (see Section 3.1.1).
1. Press

identify this format. Using the numeric keypad, enter the number for the Free Format you want to print a
report for.
3. Press the

7.5.7 Example of Free Format Programming by Modifying an Existing Format
Many times it is easier to modify an existing label format slightly to customize a label to your needs than to
design a Free Format label from scratch. Below is an example you can use to learn and practice changing an
existing format. Section 12.5 on page 141 has the layouts for the formats that come pre-programmed into the
DC-300 so you can use them as your starting point. It also has worksheets you can copy and use to make the data
entry for label formatting easier.
In this example, we will copy and then modify the A1 Label format, using a worksheet that shows the existing
data field positions and any changes we want to make. We are going to change the following items in the layout
of the label:
1. Add a barcode for the item’s ID Code,
2. Add a title to the ID Code,
3. Move the ID Code’s position to accommodate the barcode and title,
4. Add a title for the Part Number, and
5. Delete the Status field.
