7.5.5 Programming Data Layout for Free Format Labels
This section will explain how to program the layout of the data on free format Item and Total labels. Some layout
parameters (X Position, Y Position) are common to all types of data (Numeric, Fixed, Alphanumeric, Barcode
and Frames). Other parameters (Title Width, Thickness) only apply to certain data types. Once you select the
field that you want to program, you will be prompted only for the parameters that relate to that data type.
Programming frames will be described separately after the other data types because of the different parameters it
uses.
Formatting Numeric, Fixed, Alphanumeric and Barcode Data
1. You can select the item data you want to format either by scrolling through the fields using the + and
keys or by entering the number for the item data from Table 7-6 or Table 7-7 and pressing the + key.
Once the item data you want to program is on the screen press the * REPRINT key.
For Item # 12, Barcode, after you press the
* REPRINT key you will need to select which barcode’s layout
you want to program (ID Code, Unit Weight, Tare Weight, or Quantity). Select the barcode by using the
+ or keys, then press the * REPRINT key.
2. Enter the X Position of this item on your label format from the numeric keypad and press the
* REPRINT
key. If you prefer to define your label coordinates by dots rather than mm, use the >> key to change the
measurement units to dots. (1 dot = 0.125 mm.) If you have already entered the X Position in mm, the
scale will convert this position to the equivalent dots. This change can be made when programming any
item that requires a position measurement.
3. Enter the Y Position of this item on your label format from the numeric keypad and press the
* REPRINT
key. If you selected dots as your units of measurement in Step 3, it will remain dots here.
4. To keep the Angle of the data at 0 simply press the
* REPRINT key. To change the angle to 90, 180 or 270
degrees, use the
<< and >> keys to make your selection, then press the * REPRINT key.
5. Enter the TTL Width (Title Width) for this data item from the numeric keypad and press the
* REPRINT
key.
6. Enter the TTL Height (Title Height) for this data item from the numeric keypad and press the
* REPRINT
key.
7. Using the
<< and >> keys, choose when you want this data to print: 0 for No Print, 1 for Weight Print and
2 for All Print. Press the
* REPRINT key. (Note that some fields, such as ID Code, are fixed and can’t be
changed.)
8. If the data item you are programming allows you to program its Character Size, you will be prompted to
accept or change it. (For available character sizes, see Figure 7-18). Use the
<< and >> keys to scroll
through the available options. Press the
* REPRINT key.
9. You will now be returned to the initial screen for the field you were programming, showing its name.
(When programming Item 12 - Barcode, you must press the
TARE key to return to this point.) To move to
programming the next field on the label, press the
+ key. To move to a specific data item, enter its
number from Table 7-6 or Table 7-7 using the numeric keypad and press the
+ key. To save the
formatting you have entered and exit the programming mode, press the CODE key. To exit without saving
your data, press the
PIECES key, followed by the CODE key.
