Variable Voltage Trim Controls
The variable trim controls next to the output 9 and
10 connectors become active when these outputs are
configured for “variable” operation. When active, these
trim controls are used for supplying higher or lower
power voltage to pedals, changing the way they sound
by changing the pedal’s available headroom. Raising
the voltage can raise the headroom and provide a
cleaner tone and lowering the voltage can lower the available headroom, making a pedal
compress and distort more so than usual. The lowering of the supplied power voltage
is referred to as “voltage sag” and emulates a low battery. This is typically only applied to
overdrive, fuzz, and distortion type effect pedals and not modulation and time-based effect
pedals (as you typically want these type of effects to be as clean as possible).
WarNiNg! Not all analog pedals allow for operation at different voltages and may be damaged
if you attempt to do so. Check the pedal’s user guide or contact the pedal manufacturer to verify
whether or not the pedal can be operated at different voltages and what the safe voltage range
is. DigiTech assumes no responsibility or liability for equipment damaged by improper use of this
power supply.
