3.5 Preventing res and accidents
3.5.1 Fire risk
 PROHIBITION
It is prohibited to smoke or use naked  ames when using the vehicle or during any maintenance operation.
DANGER
Do not operate the vehicle if the following safety conditions are not present:

1 - Fuel, oil and lubricant leaks can trigger  res and cause serious injuries.
- Check there are no infl ammable liquid leaks.
- To prevent oil and fuel leaks, check that there are no loosened or missing straps, twisted fl exible hoses or which rub together.
- Do not bend pressurised hoses.
- Never install damaged hoses.
- Never weld hoses or pipes that contain infl ammable liquids.
- Do not use a cutting torch to cut the piping or hoses containing infl ammable liquids.

2 - Short circuits can cause  res.
- Check there are no short circuits.
- Clean and interrupt all electric connections.
- Before each shift, check that there are no loosened, twisted, hardened or damaged electric cables.

3 - Accumulated fuel, oil, grease, waste, debris or carbon dust or other in ammable products can trigger  res.
- Remove the infl ammable materials.
- Prevent fi res by inspecting and cleaning the vehicle every day, immediately removing infl ammable components.
- Check the ignition switch: in the event of a fi re, an engine stop fault will obstruct the Fire Brigade.
- Do not use naphtha, petrol or infl ammable liquids to clean parts of the vehicle. Use non-infl ammable detergents only.

4 - Handle dangerous liquids in safe conditions
- Handle fuel with care: it is very infl ammable. An explosion and/or fi re could occur if the fuel catches fi re.
- Do not re-fuel the vehicle when smoking and in the presence of kindling or sparks.
- Always stop the engine before re-fuelling the vehicle.
- Fill the tank in the open air.
- All fuels, most lubricants and some anti-freeze products are infl ammable.
- Keep infl ammable fl uids away from fi re risks.
- Do not burn or perforate pressurised containers.
- Do not keep cloths soaked in lubricants; they can generate fi res and spontaneous combustion.
