4.12.6 PCM data mode
The PCM interface supports the following PCM data
formats:
• Linear PCM, 8 kHz sample rate.
Used for narrowband calls (G.726).
• Linear PCM, 16 kHz sample rate.
Used for wideband calls (G.722).
• G.711 – A-law, 8 kHz sample rate.
Used for narrowband calls (G.726).
• G.711 – -law, 8 kHz sample rate.
Used for narrowband calls (G.726).
• Compressed wideband using A-law, 16 kHz sample
rate. The 16 bit PCM data is encoded as two 8 bit
audio samples if 8 kHz frame sync is used. Used for
wideband calls (G.722).
• Compressed wideband using -law, 16 kHz sample
rate. The 16 bit PCM data is encoded as two 8 bit
audio samples if 8 kHz frame sync is used. Used for
wideband calls (G.722).
