The BIOS will automatically set the system according to your
hard disk drives timing.
You can select a mode that matches your hard disk drives
timing. Caution: Do not use the wrong setting or you will
have drive errors.
IDE Primary Master/Slave PIO and IDE Secondary Master/Slave
PIO
Your system supports five modes, 0 (default) to 4, which primarily differ
in timing. When Auto is selected, the BIOS will select the best available
mode after checking your hard drive.
Onboard FDD Controller
Enables the onboard floppy disk controller.
Disables the onboard floppy disk controller.

Onboard UART 2 Mode
The G586IPC system board supports IrDA function for wireless connec-
tivity between your computer and peripheral devices. To use the IrDA
function, follow the steps below.
1. Connect your IrDA cable to connector J9 of the G586IPC system
board. Refer to page 12 for the location of connector J9.
2. Set Onboard UART 2 Modeto the type of IrDA standard sup-
ported by your IrDA peripheral/device.
The system will automatically select an I/O address for the
onboard serial port 1 and serial port 2.
Allows you to manually select COM1, COM2, COM3, or
COM4 for the onboard serial port 1 and serial port 2.
Disables the onboard serial port 1 and/or serial port 2.
