CHAPTER 8: VIEWING SENSOR GLUCOSE
READINGS AND TRENDS IN REAL-TIME MODE
This chapter teaches you how to view the sensor glucose readings and
trend information. The trend graph provides additional information that
the blood glucose meter does not. It shows the current glucose value,
the direction it is changing and how fast it is changing. The trend graph
can also show you where the glucose has been over time.
NOTE: In blinded mode, sensor glucose readings will not be displayed
to the patient throughout the 7-day sensor session. The sensor glucose
readings and glucose patterns can be downloaded and reviewed later
with a healthcare professional using the Dexcom STUDIO software.
The blood glucose meter and sensor measure glucose from two
differenttypesofbodyuids:bloodandinterstitialuid.Therefore,
readings from the blood glucose meter and sensor may not match.
The greatest benet you get from using the Dexcom G4 PLATINUM
Professional System used in real-time mode will come from the
trending information. It is important that you focus on the trends
and rate of change on the receiver, rather than the exact sensor
glucose reading.

CONTRAINDICATION
Taking medications with acetaminophen (such as
Tylenol) while wearing the sensor may falsely raise
your sensor glucose readings. The level of inaccuracy
depends on the amount of acetaminophen active in your
body and may be different for each person.
