6.1 BEFORE YOU START
•MakesurethecorrecttransmitterIDhasbeenenteredintothereceiver
(see Chapter 5, Section 5.2, The Settings Menu). You do not need to
re-enter the transmitter ID each time you start a sensor session.
•Checktheexpirationdateonthesensorpackagelabel.Theformatis
YYYY-MM-DD. Insert sensors on or before the end of the expiration
date calendar day.
•Followthebloodglucosemeter’smanufacturer’sinstructionstomake
sure you are getting accurate blood glucose values for calibration.
•Thehealthcareprofessionalmustcleananddisinfectthetransmitter
before giving it to a new user (see Chapter 12, Section 12.3, Cleaning
and Disinfection of the Transmitter).
•Makesurethebloodglucosemeterandreceiverdateandtimeare
correct and match.
WARNING
Store the sensor at temperatures between 36° F - 77° F
for the length of the sensor’s shelf life. You may store the
sensor in the refrigerator if it is within this temperature
range. The sensor should not be stored in a freezer.
Storing the sensor improperly might cause the sensor
glucose readings to be inaccurate, and you might miss a
low or high blood glucose value.
