12.3 CLEANING AND DISINFECTION OF THE
TRANSMITTER
Dexcom validated 52 cleaning and disinfection cycles. This represents
one cleaning and one disinfection cycle per week over twelve months of
use, which exceeds the expected transmitter battery life of six months
and meets the warranty time of the receiver.
Healthcare professionals must clean and disinfect the transmitter before
providing to each user. Clean the transmitter before disinfecting. Use
caution when handling products worn or handled by another person.
Wear personal protective equipment as appropriate (gloves, protective
goggles, lab coat, etc.).
Cleaning
Cleaning removes dirt from the surface of the transmitter. It does not
kill bacteria or viruses. The transmitter should be cleaned whenever
it is visibly dirty and between each use. In addition to the minimum
recommendations to clean between each use, the transmitter can
be cleaned whenever it is visibly dirty up to 26 times over the six
month use life. You will need Clorox Healthcare

Bleach Germicidal
Cleaner (formerly “Dispatch
®
”; any disinfectant product in a spray bottle
containing a bleach solution strength of 6500 parts per million with the
EPA registration number 56392-7 may be used), low-lint cloths or wipes,
a nylon bristled brush and water.
