5) Service
a ) Have your power tool serviced by aqualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts. This
will ensure that the safety of the power tool ismaintained.
Additional Specific Safety Rules for Breakers
• Ensure the chisel is secured in place before operating the tool.
• In cold-weather conditions or when the tool has not been used
for alonger period of time, let the tool run with no load for
several minutes before use.
• Always hold the tool firmly with both hands and ensure
asecure stance. Always operate the tool with the side handle
properly mounted.
• When working above ground level ensure the area below is
clear.
• To prevent electric shock, check the working area for live wires
before operation.
• Do not touch the chisel or the parts close to the chisel
immediately after operation, as they may be extremely hot and
cause burns to the skin.
• Always direct the power cable to the rear, away from the chisel.
• Keep the power cable away from the accessory. Apower cable
wrapped around the bit may cause electric shock.
• Do not wrap the power cable around your body.
• Do not allow inexperienced users to use this tool.
• Wear ear protectors. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
• Use auxiliary handles supplied with the tool. Loss of control can
cause personal injury.
• Do not strike jammed accessories with ahammer to dislodge
them. Fragments of metal or material chips could dislodge and
cause injury.
• Always switch off the tool when work is finished and before
unplugging.
• Do not recondition accessories yourself. Chisel reconditioning
should be done by aqualified specialist. Improperly
reconditioned accessories could cause injury. Only slightly worn
accessories can be resharpened by grinding.
WARNING: We recommend the use of aresidual current
device with aresidual current rating of 30mA or less.
Residual Risks
The following risks are inherent to the use of breakers:
• Injuries caused by touching the hot parts of the tool.
In spite of the application of the relevant safety regulations
and the implementation of safety devices, certain residual risks
cannot be avoided. These are:
• Impairment of hearing.
• Risk of squeezing fingers when changing the accessory.
• Health hazards caused by breathing dust developed when
working in concrete and/or masonry.
• Physical trauma due to inappropriate lifting and carrying of
heavy equipment.
Electrical Safety
The electric motor has been designed for one voltage only.
Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage
on the rating plate.
Your DeWALT tool is double insulated in accordance
with EN60745; therefore no earth wire is required.
WARNING: 115Vunits have to be operated via afail-safe
isolating transformer with an earth screen between the
primary and secondary winding.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by
aspecially prepared cord available through the
DeWALT
serviceorganisation.
Mains Plug Replacement
(U.K. & Ireland Only)
If anew mains plug needs to be fitted:
• Safely dispose of the oldplug.
• Connect the brown lead to the live terminal in theplug.
• Connect the blue lead to the neutralterminal.
WARNING: No connection is to be made to the
earthterminal.
Follow the fitting instructions supplied with good quality plugs.
Recommended fuse: 13A.
Using an Extension Cable
An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely
necessary. Use an approved extension cable suitable for
the power input of your charger (see Technical Data). The
minimum conductor size is 1.5mm²; the maximum length
is30m.
When using acable reel, always unwind the cablecompletely.
