Be sure to disconnect hose (3) after each scavenging operation, so that water cannot run into the

exhaust piping during non-scavenging periods.

8. When no more water or steam comes out of drain pipe (4), close same with cap nut (5).

9. Raise engine load slowly and, where possible, run engine for at least 10 minutes under load in order to

prevent possible corrosion.

Depending on the quality of cleaning, the interval between scavenging operations can be lengthened or

shortened accordingly.
