3.3 Monitoring Systems Engine Operation
3.3.2 Coolant Temperature
● The coolant temperature gauge pointer should
remain in the green sector most of the time. It
should rarely enter the yellow-green sector. If
the pointer enters the orange sector, the engine
is overheating. Turn it off and establish the
cause from the Diagnosis Chart (see 7.1).
3.3.3 Coolant Level /
Coolant Level Gauge
● When the engine is cold, coolant level 1 should
be above the KALT-COLD mark.
● Top up with coolant if the level falls below the
MIN mark on the sight glass, or if the coolant
warning switch comes on.
– Unscrew the filler cap.
– Top up with coolant up to the upper edge of
the filler neck.
– Tighten the filler cap
● If it is not possible to carry out a check at the
inspection opening, if required carry out a
check at the filler neck:
If you cannot see any fluid:
- topping up is required.

● If a level switch is fitted, the engine is shut
down automatically when the level falls below
the MIN marking.
