1.0 DESCRIPTION Detcon Model RD-4X remote display monitor is designed to receive and display the status of up to 16 remote gas sensor devices. Each display channel, numbered 1 through 16, corresponds with the output of a mating multiplexer PCB assembly (Detcon part #5216), which terminates up to 16, 4-20 mA sensor devices and transmits that information to the remote display via a two conductor RS-485 data line.
2.0 PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION In operation, the RD-4X receives information from up to 16 remote sensor devices via the RS-485 data line and displays that information on its graphic LCD display. The information includes gas type and concentration present at the sensor location. An alarm 1 (low) condition will cause the applicable channels reading to be shown in reverse video.
2) Connect 117VAC input wiring to the lug-type terminal strip labeled “117 VAC IN” (see dwg. below). 3) If 117VAC is not available, connect 24VDC to the terminal strip labeled “24 VDC IN”. 4) Connect RS-485 wiring from the multiplexer PCB assembly (Detcon part #5216) to the terminal strip labeled “RS-485 IN”. RS-485 data wiring should consist of 2 conductor, shielded, twisted pair. Belden part number 9841 is required. Terminate shield to the terminal strip but do not terminate the other end.
