A/V Excellence
and Innovation
For almost a century, Denon has distin-
guished itself as a consistent leader in
consumer, professional, and broadcast
audio products. The Denon focus on
craftsmanship and premium perform-
ance is evident in every component
they build. And the company’s long-
standing reputation for innovation is
also very well deserved. Exclusive
Denon technologies deliver the ultimate
in audio and video performance.
Denon Link
The AVR-5803 and Denon’s DVD-9000
DVD-Audio player (see it at our web-
site) feature an astounding new tech-
nology — Denon Link. When you’ve got
these two components connected via
the Denon Link interface, you’ll be
able to send DVD-Audio signals (either
six-channel, 96kHz/24-bit or stereo,
192kHz/24-bit) to the receiver digi-
tally — an incredible audio first that
enables musical reproduction of
unprecedented purity and precision.
Dynamic Discrete
Surround Circuit
The AVR-3803, AVR-4802, and AVR-
5803 employ Denon’s DDSC-Digital
configuration, treating your audio to a
series of single-function circuit blocks.
With D/A conversion, A/D conversion,
surround decoding, and other DSP
each handled by its own dedicated
block, every function is optimized, and
so is your sound! Scrupulous isolation
of each block also ensures ultra-
rigorous standards of signal purity.

700 on Denons THX® Ultra-
certified powerhouse! The AVR-4802
guarantees superbly cinematic performance, thanks
to 125 watts x 7 channels of ultra-clean Denon
power. It’s got decoding for THX Surround EX™
(which can handle Dolby® Digital EX DVDs),
DTS-ES®, and Dolby Digital sources. And Denons
Widescreen 7.1 mode can transform any stereo or
surround source into realistic 7.1-channel sound.
For spectacular results with stereo sources, you get
Denons ALPHA 24 processing and Pure Direct
mode (both described with the ’3803 on pg. 105).
For pristine execution of all this high-end digi-
tal processing, the AVR-4802 utilizes 2 ultra-precise
32-bit SHARC processors and features Denon’s
DDSC-Digital construction (see column, left).
Back-panel highlights include component video
switching for 3 sources, 8 digital inputs, 8 A/V
inputs, and an RS-232C port. You also get powered
and preamp-level dual-room/dual-source options.
The backlit touchscreen LCD remote makes sys-
tem control easy, even fun. It not only offers macros
and multibrand/learning capability, but also sports
a USB port that lets you backup and program set-
tings with a compatible PC. And when you add the
optional RC-8001ST base station/charger, the remote
becomes RF (radio frequency) capable. Its signals
can then pass through walls and floors, giving you
system control from anywhere in your home!
