[] DSP SURROUND SIMULATION
The AVR-3802 is equipped with a high performance DSP (Digtal Signal Processor} which uses digita) signal
process ng to synthetically recreate the sound field One of seven preset surround modes can be selected
according to the program source and the parameters can be adjusted according to the conditions in the
listening room to achieve a more rea)istic, power[ul sound These surround modes can also be used for
program sources not recorded in Dolby Surround Pro Logic or Dolby Digital
Select this to achieve an atmosphere like that of a move theater with a large streets Irl this

Use this mode to ac_/Jeve the leelJ4g of a live echoer [n an aref_a with reflected sounds eomJ4g
2 ROCK ARENA from all direct;ons
This mode creates the sound f;eld of a live house with a low ceilil/g and hard walls¸ This mode
3 JAZZ CLUB gives jazz a very vivid realism
4 VIDEO GAME Use this to el/icy v_deo game sources¸
Select this to emphasize the sense of expansion/ for music sources recorded in stereo SJg_/als

(NOTE 1)
In this mode the s gnals of the frollt ]eft c/ar/nel are output from the left surround channel, the
slgr/a s of the froflt right charme are output from the right surround ctlan_lel, a;ld the same (in

provides al speaker surrouTld souTld, but w[ti/out d rectiona_ steeri/g eflects, and woks with a/y
stereo program source
Depending on the program source being played, the effect may not be very noticeable
In this case, try other surround modes, without worrying about their names, to create a sound field suited
to your tastes
NOTE 1 : When playing sources recorded in monaural, the sound will be one-sided if signals are only input to
one channel ()eft or right), so input signals to both channels If you have a source component with only
one audo output (monophonic camcorder, etc) obtain a "Y" adaptor cable to split the mono output
to two outputs, and connect to the L and R inputs
NOTE:
Only the DIRECT and SCH/TCH STEREO modes can be used when playing PCM signals with a sampling
freque_lcy of 96 kHz (such as from DVDWideo discs that contain 24 bit, 96 kHz audio} If such sig_lals are
input during playback in one of the other surround modes, the mode automat cally switches to DIRECT
Personal Memory Plus
This set is equipped with a personal memorize function] that automatical)y memorizes the surrou_]d modes
and input modes selected for the input different sources When the input source is switched, the modes set
for that source last tme it was used are automaticaNy recalled
The surrou_d parameters, to_e control setti_gs and playback level balance for the different output
cbannels are memorized for each surround mode
Tu operate the surround mode and surround parameters from the remote control unit

NOTES:
The surround speaker setting can also be changed wiLb the SPEAKER button on the remote control u_it
When "Default" s selected and tile courser button is pressed, "CINEMA EQ" and "D COMR" are
automatically turned off, "ROOM SIZE" is set to "medium", "EFFECT LEVEL" to "10", "DELAY TIME" to
"3gins" and "LFE" to "g dB"
The "ROOM SIZE" expresses the expansio_ effect for the different surround modes i_ terms of the size
of the sou_d fie)d, not the actual size of the listening room
