IEC Utilization Categories
(See also IEC/EN 60947-1;
2.1.18/IEV 441-17-19)
A combination of specified require-
ments relating to the condition in
which the switching device or fuse
fulfills its purpose and selected to
represent a characteristic group of
real-life applications. The specified
requirements may, for example, relate
to the values of making and breaking
capacity and other characteristic val-
ues, data concerning associated cir-
cuits and the applicable conditions
of use and operational behavior.

By plugging is understood stopping or reversing the motor rapidly by reversing motor primary connections while the motor is running.
By inching (jogging) is understood energizing a motor once or repeatedly for short periods to obtain small movements of the driven mechanism.
