Please note:
• Whenusedforthersttime,theappliancemaygiveo
smokeandanodourforseveralminutes.Thisiscaused
byheatingandsubsequentdryingofthesealersusedin
assemblingthesteamgeneratorandiron.Youarerecom-
mendedtoventilatetheroom.
• LightXgoesonandoduringironingaccordingtothe
temperatureofthesteamgenerator.Itispartofnormal
operation and not a cause for concern.
• While ironing, it is normal to hear the water ll
pump come on and go o. Thisiscausedbytransferof
water from the tank to the steam generator. This is part
of normal operation and is not a cause for concern.
• Eachtimetheironisused(includingforthersttime)or
ifyouhavenotusedsteamforseveralminutes,pressthe
steambuttonanumberoftimesawayfromtheironing
board.Thiswilleliminatecondensationfromthesteam
circuit.
Using the iron
• Afterturningtheapplianceonasdescribedabove,wait
forthe“steamready”lightXtogoo.
• Todischargesteam,pressthesteambuttonT under the
handgrip of the iron. Some models with domestic iron
alsohaveasteambuttonZonthehandgrip.
• Todeliversteamcontinuously,usethesteamlock V(cer-
tainmodelsonly-g.3).
• Some models with professionaliron have a selector V
to choose steam at the tip of the iron only or across the
whole plate.
 You can choose between the two functions simply by
changingthepositionoftheselector(g.4).
• Theironcanberestedinanuprightposition.Indome-
sticirons,toresttheironcorrectly,blockthesteam/cable
tubeontherightorleftbypushingitasfarasitwillgo
(untilyouhearaclick)(g.5).However,makesurethe
surfaceisattoavoidtheironfallingover.
• Some models with domestic iron have an “auto-o”
safetydevicewhichturnsthe ironoifleftunusedfor
30secondsinthehorizontalpositionor8minutesinthe
uprightposition(g.6).
 Whenthedeviceisactive,lightYashes.Thislightison
steadily during normal use and indicates that the iron is
plugged into the mains.
 Toresumeironing,shaketheironslightlyforwardsuntil
lightYcomesonsteadily.WaitforlightXtogoobefore
discharging steam.
• Somedomesticironshavea“steamburst”buttonZ.This
functioncanbeusedwhentheapplianceisreadytodi-
schargesteam.Theapplianceissetforanintervalof30
seconds between consecutiveburstsof steamtoavoid
water leaking from the plate.
• Safe transport: the domestic iron has a locking system
toavoiditbeingaccidentallydroppedduringtransportor
when stored after use.
 Tolocktheironinposition,insertthetipinthehousing
on the iron rest and press the iron downwards until it
clicksintoplace(g.7).
 Toreleasethe iron,pressthe buttonZ1 and
removetheiron.Whileironing,resttheironasshownin
g.8(withoutlockinginplace).
Important!
Never move or lift the appliance using the iron as a
carrying handle.
Adjusting the thermostat
Turnthethermostatdialtosetthemostsuitabletemperature
forthetypeoffabrictobeironed.
Forsteamironing,thetemperaturemustbewithinthesteam
sector shown alongside.
Belowisabriefguidetohelpyouchoosethebesttemperature
forthetypeoffabrictobeironed.

Steam regulator
The steam regulation dial Qenablesthequantityofsteamto
beincreased ordecreasedaccordingtothefabric beingiro-
ned.
Whenyouturntheironon,youarerecommendedtoturnthe
steamregulationdialtothemaximumsteamposition.
The corresponding light comes on.
Topping up the tank with water
Whenthewaterrunsout,the light comes on. The steam
indicator Pgoesotoindicatethattheappliancecannolonger
