When the water in the tank has run out, the
pumpbecomesnoisier.Thisis partofnormal
operation and is not a cause for concern. Howe-
ver,asdescribedabove,youshouldimmediately
top up the water in the tank.
Dry ironing
• Todryiron,turntheapplianceonbypres-
sing the buttonF .
• Turnthethermostatknobtoselectthemost
suitabletemperatureforthegarmentsbeing
ironed and wait for the “iron at temperature”
light to go off.
MAINTENANCE
Rinsing the steam generator
To optimise operation, maintain constant ste-
am production over time and save energy,
rinsethesteamgeneratorwithwateraftereve-
ry 10 ironing sessions. Proceed as follows:
• Make sure the appliance is turned off, un-
plugged from the mains and completely
cold.
• TurntheprotectivecapBonthesideofthe
applianceclockwiseandremoveit(g.6).
• Use a coin or screwdriver to unscrew the
steamgeneratorcap(g.7).
• Resttheapplianceonitsside(g.8)andll
withamaximumof0.7litresofwaterusing
afunneltoavoidthe waterspillingoutside
the steam generator.
• Shaketheappliancetorinsetheentiresteam
generator,thenthrowthewateraway.
• Repeattherinseprocedure.
• Screwthecapbackon,makingsureitclo-
sesthesteamgeneratorefciently.
• ReplacetheprotectivecapB.
Before resuming ironing, discharge steam
into the air for a few seconds to completely
eliminate any residues from the internal cir-
cuits.
CLEANING
• Thesurfaceoftheplatemustbekeptclean.
Toclean,just wipe the coldsurface witha
damp cloth.
• Theironmustneverbetreatedwithdesca-
ling products.
AFTER IRONING
Afternishing ironing, you should put the iro-
ning system away with the door tightly closed
toavoiddustandforeignbodiesfallingintothe
tankandpossiblyjeopardisingoperationofthe
pump. Place the iron on the iron rest (in the se-
curedpositionformodelswithdomesticiron(B)
)and waitfor thesystem tocool downbefore
putting it away.
Toputtheapplianceawaytidily,xthesteam/ca-
bletubetothehookBandwindthepowercable
aroundthecabletidyD(g.9).
Store the iron in a dry place.
Please note:
• Afterironing,thewaterremaininginthetank
neednotbedrained.
However,theapplianceshouldbedrainedof
water if left unused for long periods.
IRONING TIPS
• Theoriginalappearanceandsoftnessoffa-
bricssuchasvelvetorwool,orgloves,bags
etc. can be restored by passing the iron a
short distance away with the steam jet in
operation.
• Donotrestorusetheirononzips,hooks,
ringsetctoavoidscratchingthesoleplate.
• Separate clothes according to the recom-
mendedironingtemperatureandbeginiro-
ningwithitemsrequiringthelowesttempe-
ratures.
• Silkmaybedry-pressedonthereverse.
• Wool, cotton and ne linen can either be
steam-ironedonthereverseorontheright
side, interposing a thin cloth between the
ironandthefabrictoavoid“shine”.
• Starchedfabricsrequiregreatermoisture.
• Iron whites and light colours on the right
side and dark colours on the reverse. Em-
broideryshouldalsobeironedontherever-
se to make it stand out.
• Eachtimetheironisused(includingforthe
rsttime)orifyouhavenotusedsteamfor
several minutes, press the steam delivery
buttonanumberoftimesawayfromtheiro-
ningboard.
This will eliminate condensation from the
steam circuit.
