Importance
Dell recommends applying this update during your next scheduled release cycle. The update contains
feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible
with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers, and software).
Software releases are created to correct defects, make enhancements, or add new features. These
releases are tested on all current, actively shipping platforms and operating systems as applicable.
This release notes contain details on the supported platforms, any changes in the configuration
settings and licensing details as well. The bug fixes along with the workarounds are documented in
the release notes. Any changes in the feature functionality from an end-user perspective are listed
with the description of each feature at a high level.
Release type and definition
Edge Device Manager (EDM) is the next generation management solution for Edge gateway devices
and Embedded PCs that offers advanced feature options such as, public versus private cloud
deployment, manage-from-anywhere using a mobile application, and enhanced security such as
BIOS configuration, and port lockdown. Other features are device discovery and registration, asset
and inventory management, configuration management, applications deployment, real-time
commands (wake-on-LAN, shutdown, restart and so on), monitoring, alerts, reporting, and
troubleshooting.

What is new in this release
Edge Gateway 5000 devicesSupports Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB-2016.
Embedded PC 3000/5000Supports Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB-2016.
Advanced application policy—Supports deploying multiple application packages from a single
policy. This policy can be applied to the devices based on the device types. Scripts can be
executed on the devices using advanced application policy.
NOTE: Advanced application policy is available for Windows based devices only.
Support for new languagesFrench, Italian, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and
Japanese.
NOTE: Japanese and Simplified Chinese are available only in preview mode.
Installer Enhancements— Option to change the default ports for all EDM services, and
supports upgrade from EDM R15 to EDM R16.
Groups page enhancementsNumber of users is not displayed on the Groups page. When
you click on number of devices, you are directed to the Devices page that displays the
selected group filter. When you click the number of non-compliant devices, you are directed to
the Devices page that displays the selected group and non-compliance filter.
Support for BIOS update of Windows based-devicesBIOS of Windows Edge ssGateway
and Embedded PCs can be updated from the EDM console.
Operating system and agent version filtersNew filters for operating system and agent
versions are added.
