5. Click Browse and select the ThinOS 9.x OS firmware to upload.
NOTE: Based on your preferred upgrade scenario and the existing ThinOS firmware version present in the group, you
must select either the Diff_9.1.2101 or Full_9.1.2101 ThinOS image.
6. From the Select the ThinOS Firmware to deploy drop-down menu, select the uploaded firmware.
7. Click Save & Publish.
The thin client downloads the firmware to install and restarts. The firmware version is upgraded.
NOTE: When you upgrade from ThinOS 9.0 to 9.1, the thin client downloads all the application packages that are
applicable to 9.1. After you upgrade to 9.1, all the application packages are removed and you must reinstall the
application packages. Dell Technologies recommends you to upgrade from ThinOS 9.0 to 9.1 without installing the
application packages. If you add multiple application packages along with the operating system image in the same Wyse
Management Suite group, the upgrade may fail due to low disk space. In this scenario, you must reset to factory default
settings for upgrading the ThinOS client again.
NOTE: Ensure that the Wyse 5070 BIOS version is 1.3.1 or later before upgrading to ThinOS 9.1. If you upgrade to
ThinOS 9.1 with earlier BIOS version and then upgrade the BIOS version to 1.3.1 or later, the device may fail to boot.
NOTE: There are chances that the upgrade might failed with event log stating Failed to install. In such an event, you
may reboot the device and upgrade again.
NOTE: ThinOS 9.0.1136 cannot upgrade the operating system firmware, or install the application packages after
September 2021. You can disable time server on ThinOS, change the system time to August 2021, then upgrade the
operating system firmware or install the application packages. Dell Technologies recommends you to upgrade to ThinOS
9.1.1131 or later version when the issue is fixed. For more information about how to upgrade from ThinOS 9.1.2101 to
a later version using Wyse Management Suite, see the Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1 Migration Guide at www.dell.com/
support.
Upgrade to ThinOS 9.1.1131 from ThinOS 8.6
If you are running ThinOS 8.6 version, you must first install the ThinOS 9.1.1131 image and then upgrade to ThinOS 9.1.2101.
The device reboots after the ThinOS image is downloaded. Once the upgrade completes, the device is automatically
registered to Wyse Management Suite. All device settings are erased after you upgrade from ThinOS 8.6 to 9.1 except the
Wyse Management Suite server settings, wireless connections, wireless certificates, and proxy settings. Dell Technologies
recommends you to back up your device settings before you initiate the upgrade process.
NOTE:
Ensure that the Wyse 5070 BIOS version is 1.3.1 or later before upgrading to ThinOS 9.1. If you upgrade to ThinOS
9.1 with earlier BIOS version and then upgrade the BIOS version to 1.3.1 or later, the device may fail to boot.
NOTE: For more information about how to install the ThinOS 9.1.1131 image, see the Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1
Migration Guide at www.dell.com/support. For information about how to upgrade from ThinOS 9.1.1131 to ThinOS 9.1.2101,
see Upgrade 9.x to later versionssection.
