● Multimedia Redirection for Blast Protocol—The Horizon Blast Session supports the Multimedia Redirection option. The
multimedia stream is decoded on the client system. The client system plays the media content so that the load on the server
side is reduced. The Multimedia Redirection option is not enabled by default. For more information about how to enable
the Multimedia Redirection option, see the Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1 Administrator's Guide at www.dell.com/support.
The supported media formats are as below:
○ M4V
○ MOV
○ MP4
○ MPEG-4 Part 2
○ WMV 7
○ WMV 8
○ WMV 9
○ WMA
○ AVI
○ MP3
NOTE: MP3 is not supported when using Multimedia Redirection and RTSP.
NOTE: Multimedia Redirection is enabled by ThinOS client side and there is no configuration item to disable Multimedia
Redirection from ThinOS client side. If you want to disable the Multimedia Redirection feature, you must deny it from
connection server side. The Multimedia Redirection feature uses Windows Media Player as video player.
● Improved USB redirection performance—Upgrading to the ThinOS 9.1.3112 eliminates the local USB driver dependency on
the USB redirection feature. From this release onwards, you can directly use the USB redirection feature in a VDI session
without attaching the USB driver installed locally on your thin client. The local USB driver is automatically detached when
using USB redirection in the VDI session. As a result, the USB redirection in the VDI session is fast and more reliable.
After upgrade, if you are configuring the USB settings on your local thin client, do either of the following:
○ Using Global Connection Settings:
1. On the local ThinOS client, go to the Global Connection Settings > Session on local ThinOS UI.
2. Verify if the USB device redirection is selected, and click OK.
○ Using Admin Policy Tool:
1. On the Admin Policy Tool, go to Advanced > Session Settings > Global Session Settings > Local Resources
and USB redirection.
2. Ensure that the USB redirection option is enabled, and click Save and Publish.
Apply these setting changes when you are using the USB Redirection for the first time, after you upgrade from ThinOS
9.1.2X or older versions to 9.1.3112. The setting changes are not required after the first instance. If you are configuring the
USB settings using Wyse Management Suite policy settings, you do not have to enable the USB redirection option again
after upgrade. There are no visible UI changes on the ThinOS client. However, the USB redirection speed is improved in the
VDI session.
NOTE: The Horizon Blast session supports USB redirection and does not support map.
● Full Screen Mode setting—In the previous release of ThinOS 9.1, full screen and window mode could be set from both the
client and the server side. From ThinOS 9.1.3112 onwards, you can set the full screen and window mode only from the client
using the Wyse Management Suite policy settings or the Admin Policy tool. For more information about how to enable full
screen mode, see Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1 Administrator's Guide at www.dell.com/support.
NOTE: For limitations related to Blast session and Multimedia Redirection, see the Important notes section.
Important notes
PCoIP in VMware Horizon known issues:
● Cannot connect Horizon session with PCoIP protocol if Horizon Agent 2103 is installed in that session.
● USB driver icon is left in PCoIP session when you redirect USB disk into session and eject it from the menu.
NOTE:
These issues are VMware issues. Dell Technologies recommends that you contact the VMware support team for
further assistance
Limitation and known issues of Multimedia Redirection:
● The Multimedia Redirection feature is not supported by Wyse 3040 Thin Client due to video and audio synchronization issue.
● The Multimedia Redirection video and audio does not synchronize in blast session with 4K display resolution.
