VMware Horizon
ThinOS 9.1 upgrades VMware Horizon Client to version 2006 that brings the newest capabilities of VMware VDI support.
VMware Horizon Management and configuration
From ThinOS 9.X onwards, INI management is deprecated and the devices are managed using Wyse Management Suite or the
Admin Policy Tool. VMware Horizon is also configured and managed using Wyse Management Suite and the Admin Policy Tool.
For the steps to configure VMware Horizon and Blast, see the Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1 Administrator's Guide at
www.dell.com/support.
Unified Access Gateway
Unified Access Gateway is used to securely access remote desktops and applications that are outside a corporate firewall.
For information about the latest version of Unified Access Gateway, see Unified Access Gateway Documentation at
www.docs.vmware.com.
VMware released Horizon 7.11 with Unified Access Gateway 3.8 and later uses SAML-based multifactor authentication. It
supports many modern cloud-based solutions including Azure multifactor authentication.
For more information about Unified Access Gateway, see the Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1 Administrator's Guide at
www.dell.com/support.
Scanner redirection
Scanner redirection helps users to scan information to their remote desktops and applications by using scanning and imaging
devices that are connected locally to the Thin Client. Scanner redirection supports scanning and imaging devices that are
compatible with TWAIN and WIA formats, and SANE.
For configuring Scanner redirection, see the Dell Wyse ThinOS Version 9.1 Administrator's Guide at www.dell.com/support.
Serial ports redirection
NOTE: This feature is supported only in Blast session.
Serial ports redirection helps users to redirect locally connected serial (COM) ports or USB ports to Serial adapters. Printers,
barcode readers, and other serial devices can be used in the remote desktops and published applications by connecting to these
ports.
To configure serial ports redirection on ThinOS, do the following:
1. Install the serial port redirection feature in View Agent in the remote session.
2. After launching the VMware Horizon View desktop, open VMware Serial Port Redirection menu from Windows system tray.
The serial port is listed and can be selected.
On Windows Device Manager, the Serial Port is displayed as Serial Port Redirector over VMware Horizon (COM1).
FIPS-140-2 mode
Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) is developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. These
standards are publicly announced standards and are developed for using in computers by nonmilitary American government
agencies and government contractors. ThinOS 9.1 can perform cryptographic operations using FIPS (Federal Information
Processing Standard) 140-2 compliant algorithms.
To enable FIPS-140-2 mode, go to System Tools > Certificates and enable the setting Enable FIPS.
