Upgrading the ThinOS firmware
It is recommended to use the Wyse Management Suite version 3.3 or later to upgrade your ThinOS firmware to 9.1. You can also
use the USB Imaging Tool version 3.4.0 to install the ThinOS 9.1 Merlin image on your thin client. ThinOS 9.1 displays a change
group notification message on the device after you change the group in Wyse Management Suite. A new firmware or package
message is also displayed when you deploy a new firmware or package using Wyse Management Suite.
The overall upgrade process using Wyse Management Suite includes the following tasks:
1. Register your thin client to Wyse Management Suite.
● Register ThinOS devices using Central Configuration. See Register ThinOS devices using Wyse Device Agent.
● Register ThinOS devices using DHCP option tags. See Register devices by using DHCP option tags.
2. Download the ThinOS 9.1 operating system image. See Download the ThinOS firmware.
3. Upload the ThinOS 9.1 firmware to the Wyse Management Suite repository. See Add ThinOS firmware to repository.
4. Upgrade the ThinOS firmware from 8.6 to 9.x. See Upgrade ThinOS 8.6 to ThinOS 9.x.
5. Upgrade the ThinOS firmware from 9.x to later versions. See Upgrade ThinOS 9.x to later versions.
NOTE: You must first upgrade to 9.1 base image, and then install other application packages.
6. Deploy the application packages. See Upload and push ThinOS 9.1 application packages.
The following firmware upgrade scenarios are supported:
● ThinOS 8.6_807 > ThinOS 9.1.3112
● ThinOS 9.0.4024 > ThinOS 9.1.3112 (DTOS_9.0Full_9.1.3112.pkg)
● ThinOS 9.1.1131 or 9.1.2101 > ThinOS 9.1.3112 (DTOS_9.1Full_9.1.3112.pkg)
NOTE:
DTOS_9.0Full_9.1.3112.pkg and DTOS_9.1Full_9.1.3112.pkg are two different files that are intended for
different purposes.
NOTE: If you are using earlier versions of ThinOS 8.6, you must first upgrade to ThinOS 8.6_807 and apply the latest BIOS
updates before upgrading to ThinOS 9.1.3112. If you are using earlier versions of ThinOS 9.0, you must first upgrade to
ThinOS 9.0.4024 before upgrading to ThinOS 9.1.3112.
