Concept Guide
Feature Description
Captive portal support for
web servers with HTTP
proxy configured
W-IAPs now support the configuration of ports that match your browser
configuration. If your browser has a proxy configuration, you can configure a captive
portal proxy server or a global proxy server in the guest SSIDs for captive portal
clients.
Configurable ESSID in
WLAN profile
W-IAPs now support the configuration of the ESSID profile names along with the
Name (SSID) field in WLAN wizard. You can now change the ESSID of a WLAN
network profile without deleting or recreating the profile from scratch. You can also
search for clients connected to an SSID using the ESSID name.
Captive portal server
offload
This feature reduces the load on the external captive portal server by ensuring that
the non-browser client applications are not unnecessarily redirected to the external
portal server.
Configuration of
transmission power limits
for radio profiles
The Customize ARM power range is added to the radio profile configuration
window to allow administrators to set transmit power limits for a specific radio band.
Configuring Dynamic
RADIUSProxy Parameters
For Dynamic RADIUS proxy (DRP) configuration and IAP-VPNdeployments, you no
longer need to configure the Virtual Controller IP address.
Support for multiple XML-
API server configuration
Users can now configure up to 4 XML API server entries on an W-IAP. These server
entries can be edited or deleted if required.
Frame overlay prevention
support for external captive
portal users
The Prevent frame overlay field is added to enable displaying of a web page only if
it is in the same domain as the main page.
Enabling DNS-based
Discovery of the
Provisioning AMP server
W-IAPs can now automatically discover the provisioning W-AirWave server if zero-
touch provisioning fails, and transfer W-AirWave configuration to the W-IAP.
Support for SIM PIN Lock W-IAPs support SIM PIN LOCK function for 3G/4G modems that support the SIM
locking feature to prevent fraudulent use. When SIMPIN lock is enabled, The modem
SIM will be locked. The W-IAPs can also unlock the modem during when the related
unlock command is executed.
RadSec certificate support You can upload RadSec and RadSec CA certificates to W-IAP. These certificates are
required for client authentication when RADIUScomunication over TLS is enabled.
Custom error page for web
access blocked by AppRF
policies
The W-IAPs allow you to create a custom list of redirect URLs to which the users can
be redirected when they access the blocked websites.
Automatic retrieval of
configuration from a
remote server
The W-IAPs support managed mode operations such as periodic retrieval of
configuration files from a specific location. In the 6.4.3.1-4.2 release, if you want to
apply the configuration immediately and do not want to wait until next configuration
retrieval attempt, you can use managed-mode-sync-server to download the
