vLCM upgrade fails when Mellanox-nmlx4 Async
3.19.70.1 driver is installed
Description: The following error message is observed while upgrading vLCM when the Mellanox-nmlx4 Async driver
v3.19.70.1 driver is already installed:
We will not be able to downgrade Mellanox-nmlx4 Component
The error is observed on Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A05 image, Dell EMC customized VMware
7.0 U1 A01 image and Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A03 image.
Applies to: ESXi 7.0.x
Workaround: For servers with Mellanox ConnectX-3 driver and Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A03 or Dell EMC
customized VMware 7.0 U1 A00 images deployed, follow the steps:
1. Perform fresh installations of Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A05 and Dell EMC customized
VMware 7.0 U1 A01 images on the host to include the vLCM upgrades.
For servers without Mellanox ConnectX-3 driver and Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A03 or Dell
EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A00 images deployed, follow the steps:
1. Uninstall the Mellanox ConnectX-3 component and upgrade to the latest version of Dell EMC custom
add-on package 7.0 U2 package A03 image using the command:
Command: #esxcli software component remove -n Mellanox-nmlx4
2. Reboot the host.
3. Select the Dell EMC custom add-on package 7.0 U2 package A03 image in vLCM and the respective
base image version to begin the upgrade.
NOTE: vLCM upgrades ranging from 7.0U1-A03 to 7.0U1-A05 and 7.0U2-A00 to 7.0U2-A01 are not
supported.

vLCM upgrades that are performed on all Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with Dell EMC customized
VMware 7.0 U1 A03 and Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A00 images installed.

Host seeding feature fails to perform when Dell EMC
customized VMware 7.0 U2 A00 image is installed
Description:
The following error message is observed when the host seeding feature is performed on Dell EMC
customized VMware 7.0 U2 A00 image:
Image export failed from the reference cluster due to nmlx4-core driver

Solution: This issue is resolved in Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U2 A01 image and later.
