1 Release summary VMware vSphere 7.0 includes the ESXi 7.0 hypervisor and is managed by vCenter Server 7.0. The current release of VMware vSphere incorporates feature upgrades, new hardware, feature support, and bug fixes that enhance the virtualization experience in VMware environments. vLCM upgrade fails when Mellanox-nmlx4 Async 3.19.70.1 driver is installed Description: The following error message is observed while upgrading vLCM when the Mellanox-nmlx4 Async driver v3.19.70.1 driver is already installed: We will not be able to downgrade Mellanox-nmlx4 Component The error is observed on Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A05 image, Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A01 image and Dell EMC customized VMware 7.0 U1 A03 image. Applies to: ESXi 7.0.
vLCM upgrade with Dell EMC 7.0 U1-A03 Custom Addon file with Intel-icen Async driver 1.4.2.0 fails Description: Performing upgrade of host with Dell EMC 7.0 U1-A03 Addon that includes Intel-icen Async driver v1.4.2.0, with vLCM single Image fails with the error message: A general system error occurred. Component metadata or VIB relation error Applies to: ESXi 7.0 U1 Workaround: Dell EMC 7.0 U1 A04 Custom image & above resolves this issue. It is recommended to use Dell EMC 7.
Persistent memory datastore is not listed under vCenter Description: When persistent memory is configured to your ESXi host, persistent memory datastore is not listed under datastore. This is a known issue with the vCenter. Applies to: ESXi 7.0.x Workaround: Use esxcl or localcli commands on the ESXi host. Below is the command: esxcli storage filesystem list namespace. Systems affected: Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with persistent memory.
Operating system takes more time to complete boot when Intel DCPMM is configured in the interleaved app-direct mode Description: Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with the VMware ESXi operating system installed take more time to complete boot when Intel® Optane™ DC Persistent Memory (DCPMM) is configured in the interleaved app-direct mode. The time taken to complete the boot depends on the capacity, configuration, and the number of sockets on the server.

Run the command: /etc/init.d/sfcbd-watchdog restart or /sbin/services.sh restart Systems affected: All Dell EMC PowerEdge servers Tracking number: 176426 Hostd core dump files are generated in /var/core on the VMware ESXi 7.0 host Description: After the management agents are restarted from the Direct Console User Interface (DCUI) on VMware ESXi 7.0 hosts, hostd core dump files are generated. Applies to: ESXi 7.0.
cable are disconnected. This issue is related to the HTML client used by both the ESXi host web client and the vCenter web client. Applies to: ESXi 7.0 Workaround: The esxcli hardware ipmi sdr list command displays the correct status of the NVDIMM battery. Systems affected: All Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.
The Hardware Health tab of the vCenter Web Client does not display any information when a drive is removed Description: The Hardware Health tab does not generate alerts in the vCenter Web Client when a drive is removed from the ESXi host or when a RAID storage array is modified. Applies to: ESXi 7.0 Workaround: The drive status of the ESXi host is marked as Deassert under the Hardware Health tab when it is removed.
VMware ESXi 7.0 does not boot after upgrading from VMware ESXi 6.5.x Description: VMware ESXi 7.0 does not boot after upgrading from VMware ESXi 6.5.x using VMware vSphere Update Manager (VUM). The following error message is observed during boot: Fatal Error. This issue is observed when the VMware ESXi 7.0 A01 image is installed. Applies to: ESXi 7.0 Workaround: Use the VMware ESXi 7.0 A02 image for upgrading from VMware ESXi 6.5.x. Systems affected: All Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.
Workaround: Dell EMC customized image A02 supports surprise removal of NVMe device. Systems affected: All Dell EMC PowerEdge servers. Tracking number: 161528 Surprise hot-plug of an NVMe in a vSAN environment results in a PSOD Description: When an NVMe drive, which is configured for the cache or capacity tiers in a vSAN environment, is removed abruptly, a PSOD results. Applies to: ESXi 7.0 Workaround: Dell EMC customized image A02 supports surprise removal of NVMe device.
The driver modules qedf and qedi are not available for the QLogic 412xx adapter Description: In an ESXi 7.0 build, the driver modules qedf and qedi are not available for the QLogic 412xx adapter. Applies to: ESXi 7.0 Workaround: Upgrade the in-box driver to the latest async drivers listed in the VMware HCL for ESXi 7.0 or use VMware ESXi 7.0 A01 image or above. For more information, see VMware Knowledge Base article 78632. Systems affected: All Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.
Tracking number: 154804 FCoE adapter speed is displayed as 0 Description: Dell EMC PowerEdge systems MX740c and MX840c with ESXi 7.0 and FC adapter configuration displays the FCoE adapter speed as 0 when you run one of the following commands: ● esxcli storage san fc list ● localcli storage san fc list When you run the same command on the same system that is configured with an FC device and a lun that is associated with an FC device, the FC adapter speed is not displayed as 0. Applies to: ESXi 7.
Workaround: There is no workaround. This issue can be ignored as it is a cosmetic issue, and there is no functionality loss. For more information about the PCIe device info, use vCenter Server or the esxcli command: esxcfgnics -l. Systems affected: Dell EMC PowerEdge servers with AMD processors. Tracking number: 137055 Description of the NVMe drive displayed is incorrect Description: The description of the Dell Express Flash PM1735 3.

Identifying the series of your Dell EMC PowerEdge servers The PowerEdge series of servers from Dell EMC are divided into different categories based on their configuration. They are referred as YX2X, YX3X, YX4X, YX4XX, or YX5XX series of servers. The structure of the naming convention is described below: The letter Y denotes the character in the server model number. The character denotes the form factor of the server.
