Cartridge for Operating Systems
Overview
When you deploy the Cartridge for Operating Systems, a monitoring dashboard is available from
which you can view your operating system performance. This dashboard is a visual representation of
the status of the major components of the selected host. It allows you to determine at a glance any
potential bottlenecks with system performance.
For ease of use, one common dashboard for all platforms is available under the Dashboards node in
the vFoglight. For more information on the Dashboards node, refer to the vFoglight User Guide.
Within the monitoring dashboard window, related server statistics are grouped together on portlets
that are connected by a series of graphical flows and icons. The information is updated in real time so
that you can see how quickly data is moving through the system.
The Host Monitor Dashboard
The Host Monitor dashboard provides a quick and intuitive view of the activity of a single host
instance for an operating system type. For example, selecting a Windows host from the host list
displays a monitoring dashboard with CPU, memory, disk usage, and alarm information.
In the Host Monitor dashboard, you can display the metrics for each host that you monitor. The action
panel on the right includes the Host Selector command that lets you choose from existing hosts.
