Virtual Machine Rules
VMW Virtual Machine Active Vs. Granted Memory
Purpose
This rule compares the amount of physical memory that is actively being used by the
virtual machine to the amount of memory granted to the virtual machine by the
vmkernal.
If active memory approaches the granted memory value in the virtual machine’s
configuration, you should consider increasing the granted memory value.

Rule Definition
Conditions State Action
The virtual machine is actively using only 75
percent or less of the memory it has been granted by
the vmkernal.
Normal None
The virtual machine is actively using more than 75
percent but no more than 85 percent of the memory
it has been granted by the vmkernal.
Warning None
The virtual machine is actively using more than 85
percent but no more than 90 percent of the memory
it has been granted by the vmkernal.
