Installing or Upgrading DSET Collector and DSET CIM Provider
To permanently install or upgrade DSET on the local system:
NOTE
: You must be logged in as root to install or upgrade DSET.
At the Linux shell prompt, run the
./dell-dset-lx(bit)-3.3.0.x.bin
file.
The
License Agreement
is displayed along with the following message:
Enter y.
The installation types are displayed.
Type 1 - Install/Upgrade DSET Collector and DSET CIM Provider
Type 2 - Install DSET Collector Only
Type 3 - Install DSET CIM Provider Only
For the description of installation types, refer to the User's Guide.
NOTE:
o
For DSET version 2.2 or lower, installation type 1 is displayed.
o
If DSET 3.2 Collector and Provider or Collector or CIM Provider is in the system, then installation
types 1, 2, and 3 are displayed.
o
For DSET 3.3:
-
If Collector is in the system, then installation type 3 is displayed.

If CIM Provider is in the system, then installation type 2 is displayed.
Enter <option number> to select the required installation type.
If Type 1 or Type 3 is selected, then during installation if SFCB or OpenPegasus is not installed or running, the
following message is displayed:
Enter y.
If OpenPegasus is installed and running, the following message is displayed:
Enter the root credentials of the system when the following message is displayed:
Wait for the installation to complete. The following messages are displayed based on the selected installation
type:
o
If you have selected DSET Collector and DSET CIM Provider option, then the following message is
displayed:
DSET installation completed successfully. Enter '/usr/sbin/dellsysteminfo' from a terminal shell
prompt to create a report file
o
If you have selected DSET Collector only option, then the following message is displayed:
The DSET Collector installation completed successfully. Enter '/usr/sbin/dellsysteminfo' from a terminal
shell prompt to create a report file
