Other useful information
This chapter provides additional information that you may require while using SupportAssist.
SupportAssist user groups
SupportAssist maintains security and privileges through the following user groups that are created during the installation of
SupportAssist:
• SupportAssistAdmins — Users who are members of this group have elevated or administrative privileges required for
performing both basic and advanced functions in SupportAssist.
• SupportAssistUsers — Users who are members of this group have normal privileges required for performing only basic
functions in SupportAssist.
After the installation of SupportAssist, by default, the operating system user groups specied in the following table are automatically
added to the SupportAssist user groups.

Linux root user —
If you have Administrator privileges (Windows) or root privileges (Linux) on the system, you can add user accounts to the
appropriate SupportAssist user groups based on your requirement. Users who are members of the operating system user groups on
the system where SupportAssist is installed have the following privileges in SupportAssist:
• If SupportAssist is installed on Windows:
– Users who are members of the Administrators user group have elevated or administrative privileges in SupportAssist.
– Users who are members of the Users user group have normal privileges in SupportAssist.
• If SupportAssist is installed on Linux:
– Users who are members of the root group have elevated or administrative privileges in SupportAssist.
– Users who are members of the users group have normal privileges in SupportAssist.
The following table provides a list of functions that can be performed by the SupportAssist users depending on their privileges.
