About this task
If your company utilizes an SMTP server (email server), Dell recommends that you congure the SMTP server settings in
SupportAssist. Conguring the SMTP server settings enables SupportAssist to send maintenance mode, device status, and network
connectivity status email notications through the SMTP server.
NOTE: You will not receive certain device status and connectivity status email notications in the following situations:
• The SMTP server settings are not congured in SupportAssist.
• The SMTP server credentials (user name and password) you have provided in SupportAssist are incorrect.
• If you have congured SupportAssist to send email notications over Secure Socket Layer (SSL), but the SSL certicate of
the SMTP server has expired.
• The SMTP server port congured in SupportAssist is blocked by any other application.
Steps
1. Click the Settings tab.
The System Logs page is displayed.
2. Click SMTP Settings.
The SMTP Settings page is displayed.
3. Select Enable Email Notications.
4. Provide the following information in the corresponding elds:
• Host Name/IP address — the host name or the IP address of the SMTP server
• Port— the port number of the email server
5. If the SMTP server requires authentication for sending emails, select Requires authentication.
6. Type the user name and password in the corresponding elds.
7. To send email notications securely, select Use SSL.
8. Click Apply.
