Conguring email notications
By default, SupportAssist is congured to send an email notication when a support case is created automatically. SupportAssist can
also send email notications about maintenance mode, device status, and network connectivity status, if the SMTP server (email
server) settings are congured. You can congure the email notication settings based on your preference. For example, you can:
• Disable the case creation email notication and/or select the preferred language for email notications. See Conguring email
notication settings.
• Congure SupportAssist to send email notications through the SMTP server (email server) utilized by your company. See
Conguring SMTP server settings.
NOTE: For information about the dierent types of SupportAssist email notications, see Types of email notications.
Conguring email notication settings
You can enable or disable automatic email notications from SupportAssist and also select the preferred language for email
notications.
Prerequisites
Ensure that you are logged in to SupportAssist with elevated or administrative privileges. See SupportAssist user groups and
Granting elevated or administrative privileges to users.
Steps
1. Click the Settings tab.
The System Logs page is displayed.
2. Click Preferences.
The Preferences page is displayed.
3. To receive email notications when a new support case is opened, in Email Settings, select Receive email notication when a
new support case is opened.
NOTE: Disabling support case email notications also disables the automatic email notications that are sent if an
issue occurs while:
• Creating a support case
• Collecting the system information from a device
• Sending the system information from a device to Dell
4. To set the language in which you want to receive email notications, from the Preferred Email Language list, select a language.
NOTE: The Preferred Email Language is enabled only when the Receive email notication when a new support case
is opened option is selected.
5. Click Apply.
