Getting started with adding devices managed by
systems management consoles
To inventory and add devices that are managed by a systems management console such as OpenManage Essentials, Microsoft
System Center Operations Manager, or OpenManage Enterprise - Tech Release:
1. Add Account Credentials in SupportAssist Enterprise for the devices that you want to add from the systems management
console. See Adding Account Credentials.
2. Create one or more Credential Profiles depending on the type of devices that you want to add. See Creating Credential
Profile.
3. Set up the adapter in SupportAssist Enterprise. See Setting up OpenManage Essentials adapter, Setting up Microsoft
System Center Operations Manager adapter, or Setting up OpenManage Enterprise adapter.
4. If you are adding more than 4,000 devices, set up a Remote Collector. See Setting up Remote Collector.
Adapters
The adapter is an application that acts as an interface between SupportAssist Enterprise and a systems management console.
Setting up an adapter enables SupportAssist Enterprise to inventory devices and retrieve alerts from devices that are managed
by the systems management console. You can set up one or more of the following adapters depending on the systems
management console that you are using:
● OpenManage Essentials adapter — To inventory devices that are managed by OpenManage Essentials
● System Center Operations Manager adapter — To inventory Dell EMC devices that are managed by Microsoft System
Center Operations Manager by using the Dell Server Management Pack Suite
● OpenManage Enterprise – Tech Release adapter — To inventory devices that are managed by OpenManage Enterprise –
Tech Release
NOTE:
Servers running Debian and Ubuntu operating systems can only be added directly in SupportAssist Enterprise, and
not through the adapters.
