19 Dell PS Series Configuration Guide
Basic PS-M4110 configuration for data center-in-a-box
4.5.3 Networking considerations and guidelines
Supported M-Series I/O modules:
10G KR is the only supported I/O Module (IOM).
Switches: The list of supported switches can be found in the Dell EMC Storage Compatibility Matrix.
The following are basic networking recommendations for implementing the PS-M4110 storage blade.
IOMs must be Interconnected.
External switches can be used to provide interconnection if rack mounted arrays are needed.
Must use “Single Fabric” I/O module Placement; supported fabrics are “A” and “B” only.
Fabric A is not supported on older M1000e systems (Mid-plane v1.0). The version should be
physically marked on the chassis or checked using the CMC command. Upgrading is allowed but
generally not recommended because of the required downtime and required professional services.
It is recommended that PS-M4110 controller be placed into their own pool (not mixed with rack-mount
arrays).
