Installing 2.5 inch HDD blank
Prerequisites
1. Ensure that you read the Safety instructions section in this document.
2. If installed, remove the front bezel.
Steps
Insert the HDD blank into the HDD slot until the release button clicks into place.

Removing hot-swappable HDD
Prerequisites
CAUTION:
Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by
your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
1. Ensure that you read the Safety instructions section in this document.
2. If applicable, remove the bezel.
3. Using the management software, prepare the HDD for removal. Wait until the indicators on the HDD carrier signal that the
HDD can be removed safely. For more information, see the documentation for the storage controller.
If the HDD is online, the green activity/fault indicator flashes as the drive is turned off. When the HDD indicators are turned
off, the HDD is ready for removal.
