21 Scaling VCF Domains Beyond a Single MX7000 Chassis | Document ID
7 Conclusion
The Dell EMC PowerEdge MX7000 coupled with the scalable fabric architecture provides an exceptionally
flexible and reliable method for scaling out any VCF deployment. SmartFabric and deployment templates
allow compute sleds to be moved between slots and chassis and maintain their specified host and network
characteristics. Deployment templates can be exported from one MCM group and imported into another MCM
group to provide consistency across multiple MCM groups. These templates not only increase the speed with
which servers can be configured but they increase the reliability with which the configuration elements are
applied.
SmartFabric networking provides an automated method of reconfiguring server facing ports as servers are
moved between chassis.
The OME-M interface provides a single pane of glass to manage up to 20 chassis and all the fabrics,
networks, storage, and compute resources that are contained within. Any new compute hardware can now be
deployed quickly to create workload domains. Templates that are already built can be cloned and modified to
match the requirements of the new workload domain. The templates can be deployed to the slots or to the
devices as needed to fit their intended purpose.
