Overview
Dell OpenManage Server Update Utility (SUU) is an application that
identifies and applies updates to your system. You can use SUU to update your
Dell system or to view the updates available for any system supported by SUU.
SUU compares the versions of components currently installed on your system
with the update components packaged on the Dell Server Updates DVD.
SUU then displays a Comparison Report of the versions and provides the
option of updating the components.
NOTE: Only users with administrator (Microsoft Windows) or root (Linux) privileges
can perform updates with SUU.
What’s New in This Release?
From SUU 6.3 onwards, SUU auto-launch displays the Repository Manager
GUI when you insert the SUU DVD in an unsupported system that has
Microsoft Windows as the operating system.
NOTE: If the operating system is not Microsoft Windows, the SUU GUI is displayed.
You can use the Repository Manager (RM) to view, manage, and create
custom repositories from the SUU repository available on the SUU media.
Also, if you have Internet connectivity, the Comparison Report displays a link
for each listed update. Clicking the link redirects you to the Dell Support
website at support.dell.com.
Features From Previous Release
In SUU 2.0.0, IPMI drivers were installed as part of the Linux operating
system installation. You cannot install IPMI drivers using SUU. Also, SUU
does not check for IPMI driver installation.
