Monitoring
The Dell Server Management Pack Suite v4.1 enables you to monitor the
discovered Dell systems and network devices. The
Severity Level Indicators
help you to monitor the health of your Dell devices on the network.
Monitoring of Dell devices includes the following tasks:
• Process events raised by Dell OpenManage Server Administrator (Server
Administrator) agents running on Dell Modular and Monolithic systems
and display the alerts on the Operations Console
• Monitor Health of Dell Modular and Monolithic systems and their
components both at regular intervals and on occurrence of events
• Process SNMP trap and knowledge base for CMC, DRAC/MC, and Dell
Remote Access Controllers
• Monitor Health of CMC, DRAC/MC, and Dell Remote Access Controllers
- both at regular intervals of six hours and on occurrence of SNMP traps
You can monitor the Dell systems and devices through the various views that
the Dell Server Management Pack Suite provides on the SCOM console. The
different views are:
• Alerts View
• Diagram View
• State View
• Performance and Power Monitoring Views
Severity Level Indicators
Table 3-3 lists the icons that indicate the severity levels of the status of the
discovered Dell devices on the Operations Console.
Table 3-3. Severity Level Indicators
Icon Severity Level
Normal/OK. The component is working as expected.
Warning/Noncritical. A probe or other monitoring device has detected
a reading for the component that is above or below the acceptable level.
The component may still be functioning, but it could fail.
The component may also be functioning in an impaired state.
