NOTE: Click Cancel at any time to exit without saving.
The Create Repository for Dell OpenManage Essentials window appears.
5. Select My Repositories or Source Repository.
If you select My Repositories, all of the existing repositories get activated in the window below the Local
repositories option. Select the one you want to use and click Next.
6. Select Yes for the Use inventory data from Dell OpenManage Essentials option.
The system inventory provides you the option to Use inventory data from Dell OpenManage
Essentials?
NOTE: In case you select No; it allows the user to create the custom repository for the Dell OpenManage
Essentials installed in the same system without using the inventory option.
7. Click Connect to open the Dell OpenManage Essentials Host Details window.
8. Provide the Host Name/IP Address
NOTE: Select Use different user credentials if the user identification is different.
9. Click OK to close the Dell OME Host Details window and continue.
NOTE: Dell OpenManage Essentials Inventory window is displayed.
10. Click Next to continue.
NOTE: OME 1.0 and DRM 1.5 must be installed on the same system; however, OME 1.1 and DRM 1.5 can be
installed and run on different systems. DRM 1.5 can access OME 1.1 inventory data from a remote system. In
DRM 1.5, user must click Connect button to explicitly obtain inventory data from OME irrespective of the
version of OME (1.0 or 1.1) it interacts with.
11. Click Finish on the Summary page to continue.
12. Click Close on the New repository inventory window.
Creating An Update Repository For Dell Management Plugin For VMware vCenter Using
Inventory Data
You use the inventory data generated by the Dell Management plug-in for VMware vCenter to create a custom
repository, which contains updates for all devices or only out-of-date devices.
To create an update repository for Dell Management Plug-in for VMware vCenter:
1. On the My Repositories tab, click New and select the Dell system Mgmt Plug-in for vCenter inventory option.
The Create Repository for Dell Management plug-in for VMware vCenter window displays.
2. Enter the Name: and Description: and click Next.
3. Select a source for your repository, and click Next.
4. Select Yes, to get inventory data from the Dell Management Virtual Appliance Host.
5. Click Connect. The Dell Management Virtual Appliance User Credentials window displays.
6. Enter IP or Host name to connect to the Dell Management Virtual Appliance Host.
7. Click Check Availability to confirm if the Dell virtual appliance is available. If the Dell virtual appliance is available,
proceed to step 8. If not, check the IP or Host name entered in step 7.
8. Enter the administrator password to the Dell virtual appliance.
NOTE: Based on the version of the Dell virtual appliance, you may have to enter the Dell Management
appliance administrator password. Incase, this box is greyed out, the password is not required.
9. Enter the registered vCenter server IP or host name, user name, and password, and click OK. Repository Manager
fetches the inventory data.
