register) is also congured with oset 0. On upstream, kernels are available with the IBS support, but without the
xes. This leads to a conict. IBS initialization fails if congured later.

Known issues in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3
Error message displayed on Dell EMC PowerEdge Servers with
AMD Opteron 63xx processors
Description On installing and rebooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 with AMD Opteron 63xx processors, the dmesg displays
the following error message:
[Firmware Bug]: cpu 0, try to use APIC500 (LVT offset 0) for vector 0x10400,
but the register is already in use for vector 0xf9 on another cpu
[Firmware Bug]: cpu 0, IBS interrupt offset 0 not available
(MSRC001103A=0x0000000000000100)
Failed to setup IBS, -22
Workaround This issue is xed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4.
Cause The Local Vector Table (LVT) osets are not set up correctly. For MCE thresholds, oset 0 is selected (indicated
by banks 0-3) instead of 1 (bank 4). IBS (Instruction Based Sampling, IBSCTL register) is also congured with
oset 0. On upstream, kernels are available with the IBS support, but without the xes. This leads to a conict. IBS
initialization fails if congured later.
NOTE: Currently, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 does not support IBS. For more information, see the Kbase

Biosdevname names SR-IOV Virtual Functions from Intel Sarek
NDC as ethN
Description
On servers that are installed with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2/6.3 and Intel Ethernet NDC controller, the
biosdevname 0.3.11 utility names the SR-IOV Virtual Functions (VFs) from 10GbE port of Intel Sarek rNDC as
ethN. The VFs are named ethN instead of the following format:
em<port number>_<virtual function instance>
This issue aects platforms with on-board network adapters NDC which support SR-IOV when SR-IOV is enabled
for the adapters.
Workaround To turn o the new naming convention, enter the kernel command-line parameter,biosdevname=0 in the boot
command line during and after installation. This issue is xed in biosdevname-0.4.0. For more information, see
www.linux.dell.com/biosdevname/biosdevname-0.4.1.
NOTE: This issue is xed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4.
Cause SR-IOV virtual functions from onboard network adapters do not have SMBIOS type 41 records. To retrieve the port
number, use the SMBIOS device type instance from the physical function to which the virtual functions belong.
