(approximately).

Power saving threads created by the acpi driver consumes
excess power
Description
The BIOS requests the acpi_pad driver for a specic number of processors to be moved into a High C state to
reduce power. The acpi pad driver creates a power saving thread on each processor to be idled.
Workaround Disable the acpi driver by appending acpi=o to the kernel boot command line of the /boot/grub/grub.conf le and
reboot the system.
This issue will be xed in a future release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Cause The power saving thread loops very quickly consuming more power than it did before it was in an idle state.
